PTA Officers

President: Chris Mize president@fallcreekpta.org

Chris and Theo

Our son Theo started school at Fall Creek four years ago and we moved to the neighborhood three years ago.  I have always been involved in my children’s school lives (my daughter Tori is a sophomore at IHS this year) and when we moved to the neighborhood we became part of the school’s extended family very quickly.  I started my Fall Creek PTA career with the Halloween party and haven’t looked back. This is the closest knit community I have ever been privileged to be a part of so it was only by natural progression that I accepted the honorable position of Fall Creek PTA president.  I am looking forward to the coming school year, I could not be part of a better team and I offer an open invitation to anyone who would like to become more involved in the school/neighborhood/family of Fall Creek.

Vice President: Asia Bonacci (vp@fallcreekpta.org)

Asia, Nuala, and AnnieMy husband and I have lived in Ithaca since 1999, but didn’t move into the Fall Creek neighborhood until 2009, when we returned to town after a brief stint in the Mississippi Delta. We fell in love with the school the moment we arrived for our daughter Nuala’s first day of kindergarten! Nuala has had wonderful teachers and experiences and we’ve all made great friends. I look forward to working with the Fall Creek community this year to continue to build an environment that truly does celebrate our children and the vital connections between teachers, parents, and staff.

Vice President: James Haines-Burnham (vp@fallcreekpta.org)

James, Emma, and OwenMy two children, Emma and Owen, have had wonderful experiences at Fall Creek Elementary School, a place and a group of people that is so much more than a school. The term “community” is what comes to mind for me and this school really is a community within a community and a big part of this neighborhood’s uniqueness. I’m happy to have the opportunity this year to be a part of supporting all the endeavors of staff, students, and families that make up the Fall Creek Elementary school experience. Please feel free to be in touch with me and any of the other officers.

I always joke around that Fall Creek School is like Cheers: a place where everybody knows your name!  To me the PTA is all about building community and making everyone feel welcome.  The PTA is full of dedicated parents who put together a wonderful mix of events and programs that make our kids’ lives richer and filled with fun.  I feel proud to be a part of such a great group!

Corresponding Secretary: Timothy Weber (secretary@fallcreekpta.org)

TimothyI’m very happy to live in Fall Creek, and I think this school is its heart. I’m continually astounded by the energy and creativity put forth by teachers, staff, administrators, and parents here, through an incredible variety of events and programs throughout the year, and I feel very lucky to be able to help out on the board again this year. As a computer guy, I’m engaged in streamlining our communications and working to make it easier for everyone to participate in school activities.

Recording Secretary: Moira Sheehan (secretary@fallcreekpta.org)

Moira and Max

Although I have lived in the Fall Creek neighborhood for almost a decade, I really didn’t experience the wonders of living here until my son Max started kindergarten last year:  the students and families of the Fall Creek Elementary school are the heart of the neighborhood.  I joined the PTA as recording secretary this year to get involved in school events, and to interact more with the community.  I’m looking forward to another great year at Fall Creek.
